Different Kinds Of Detailed Bridal Veils

By Leslie Ball

Brides choose a number of different ways to shine on their big day. For some brides, the gown is the real show piece. However, for others, having an over-the-top gown is not always the case. These brides may prefer to use other items and accessories to enhance the way they look. This could be jewelry or an amazing pair of shoes. However, detailed bridal veils are really a great choice for adding a little something special to one's bridal attire. The choices are endless.

Very detailed veils do not always have to be long, as one may think. There is a lot of grandeur in having something with exquisite detail that is a shorter length. However, some women may prefer the true look and feel of royalty that a floor-length or even longer veil would provide. It is necessary to remember that a longer veil will always require more coverage, and therefore it will be a great deal more expensive due to the amount of detail on it.

Lace is a form of embellishment that can really make a veil a piece of art. If your gown does not have any lace at all, and very little other embellishment, then you can go all out with a super intricate laced veil for impact. Lace makes a great edge on a veil. If you happen to be having your gown custom-created, no matter how fancy it is, you may want to ask to have the veil made to match the gown if there is any lace on it.

Lace can look even more bedazzling if beads and sequins are used. Iridescent sequins are a prime choice in bridal wear because they add sparkle without weighing down any part of the ensemble. You can opt to have more embellishment closer to the top of the veil where you head is and secure it with pins so it doesn't fall. Alternatively, with a much longer veil that drags on the floor, you might want to have greater embellishment there, so that it holds the veil down when you are walking.

Crystals and rhinestones are another way to add some sparkle. Flat back crystal rhinestones can be added to the body of the veil in a scattered formation so that it catches the light from any angle. Crystals of different sizes are also a good idea when doing this.

As mentioned before, crystal scattering could be done more heavily around the top. Alternatively, the clusters of crystals could be placed around the edge of the veil. It is really important to know how to balance the decoration on the veil with the rest of the bride's look, including her jewelry and also any beading or detail that may be on her gown.

Pearls are a great addition to any bridal ensemble. Smaller pearls can be used to sew into any lace on a veil. Alternatively, the pearls can be used alone in the same way as crystals. Half pearls are good with an appropriate adhesive to scatter on the surface of a veil.

Mixing pearls, crystals and other beads is the ultimate way to add maximum detail. Going all out on a veil is a must if the bride chooses not to wear any jewelry or if her dress is simple. However, there is nothing wrong with taking the look to the extreme by pairing a high end overly embellished gown with an exquisitely detailed veil and jewelry.
