EVA Air And Its Catapult To Fame And Dominance

By Penelope Barracuda Xavier

EVA is a name that came from Evergreen Airways, the name that the airline was called in the beginning. When Evergreen Airways needed to change their name, all they did was take the EVA from their original name. The airline changed their name to the current version due to another flight company with the same first name. If you are flying in or out of Taiwan, you very possibly are on an airplane that is part of EVA Airways. What happens to one airline, is similar to all the rest, so their histories are very similar. Many airlines, including EVA, suffered financial losses through the early 2000s, but now are back making money again.

EVA Airways came into being in March of 1989 when their license was granted for operations. Investing a significant amount of money, they pre-ordered over 25 airliners from McDonnell Douglas and Boeing. Interestingly, EVA was originally named, Evergreen Airways, but they obviously changed it early on. It has been rumored that at one point there was a company called Evergreen Airways which shared a similar name. To avoid any possible confusion with the other company, this may have prompted the name change. Once done, they were given the go-ahead to move forward as fast as possible.

In order to get the air passengers inside of Taiwan, EVA made a daring move, back during the 1990s. To attempt to make it happen, the airline bought out three other airlines. EVA tried gaining the market by combining airlines, including Great China Airlines, Makung International Airlines, and also Taiwan Airways. These three airlines merged together, in 1998, to form one large airline called UNI Air. As soon of this combination of airlines became a part of EVA, they increased their control of Taiwan's domestic air transportation. Inside Taiwan, you will find that UNI Air takes care of anything to do with air transportation operations.

Notwithstanding the fact they started to offer stocks during 2001, EVA is primarily a privately owned company. You can find EVA on the Taiwanese Stock Exchange. In spite of this, a majority of the holdings are privately owned and are continuing this way. Following 9/11, there have been influential ramifications all over the airline industry. Those that were disturbed were not capped to the US centered airlines just because of the affect on flight services in the US. So, in 2002, EVA responded in the best way possible, and at least they did not go out of business as others did at that time.

Planned well in advance, EVA began to make profits according to their schedule that they set out to achieve years ago. Expanding into the international marketplace is not very easy, though it is something that this company was able to do. All of their operations stem from their Taiwan base from which all airlines are controlled and operated. A conglomeration of multiple Asian airlines, under the aegis of EVA, they have grown exponentially and are very stable. All the while, they maintained domestic flights in Taiwan while expanding internationally.

Many people find that remaining in an incredible hotel can be quite a successful combination with an excellent airline. That's why so many people have been coming to London recently. The hotels are perfect, and you can enjoy yourself a lot more when you are staying in these types of magnificent resorts. Please think about a trip to London down the road.
