The Dell Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet In Review

By Stephanie Burns

People who had laptops at first gave the iPad a lukewarm reception, not realizing the capabilities of the brand-new device. Then people rapidly began to see the true purpose of the iPad. It didn't take long before all the big suppliers of mobile phones and computers wanted in on on the strong-growing action. Tablets began cropping up all over the place. Of course, Dell wants a piece of the action. The product offering Dell is pinning its hopes on is the Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet. In this article, we will take a closer look at this Dell Tablet and see if it is well worth buying.

One remarkable feature is movies are clearer to watch than ipad movies. Unfortunately, the most apparent negative for this product is the company itself -- Dell. Dell isn't really known for producing good and reliable products. The company also has a dubious track record of providing customer service. After the warranty on your product lapses, you can expect to be billed for customer service calls to Dell - at least that is what numerous Dell customers report. Buying a product from this company may have future implications - and not just price - which may well outweigh the smart savings from it being a comparatively inexpensive purchase.

Multitasking is made easy by the tablet's operating system, an Android OS version dubbed "Froyo." The system's notification service keeps you informed even if all programs aren't open and running, and at the same time, you could maintain your GPS data and listen to MP3s. There are no worries about being unreachable with this tablet; communications via Gmail and other email setups are possible.

One of the great things about the Streak 7 tablet that wasn't a part of the first iPad design is video chat. Video chat comes built in to the Dell Streak 7 tablet by means of a front-facing panel cam and Qik software. Nonetheless, yes, there is a caveat: someone who owns the same Dell Streak 7 tablet, or something compatible, presents no problem - otherwise, incommunicado you will remain. So there is no an all-encompassing video chat app available. Another good thing is that the Dell Streak 7 table has Blockbuster's On Demand service. Admittedly, though, Blockbuster's recent troubles make us think twice about recommending the tablet.

Thus yar, there aren't lots of reviews about this specific product though some people are questioning what the point of this product could really be. It isn't an extensive tablet - it can't communicate between non Streak-compatible devices so its functionality is very limited. But, if you suppose you're missing out and you are interested to see whether tablets are truly the thing for you, this is a low-cost way for you to find out. Keeping in mind the aforementioned caveats, ensure that you think about your purchase carefully prior to committing any money.
