Building a Mechanical Bull Ride Can Be Costly

By Kathlyn Stewart

Riding a mechanical bull is like experiencing a thrilling ride of a real bull or horse. Without the electric motor that enables the simulated ride, nothing will come out of it. The mechanical bull ride should have safety features like a well- padded floor to protect riders from injury upon a fall. With the Quick Stop System, the mechanical bull stops when needed.

The origin of mechanical bulls can be traced back as part of the rodeo riders' training. This can give them the feel of the real thing. The training purpose is not eradicated totally yet, but most of the time, mechanical bull rides have now become amusement rides. Used for parties, special events and social gatherings, these mechanical bull rides are great sources of fun and enjoyment among guests. One of the best and most thrilling rides is the multiride unit with different speeds and features.

The mat surrounding the mechanical bull makes a huge difference in the safety of the ride. The mat needs to be custom fitted and be large enough and deep enough to prevent injury if the rider is thrown off the ride...and let's face it, that's kind of the point of the whole thing.

Mechanical bulls vary but the only kind that should be used is one with distinct safety features. The main safety features are the automatic stop system, the soft foam head of the bull and an inflatable mat for protection from falling. The best bull that caters to safety requirements is the electronic bull. Compared to the hydraulic bull, the mechanical bull stops immediately when the rider falls off or is thrown off. Do not just trust varied suppliers that promise "safe" bulls; just continue to decipher if they are telling the truth or not.

However, there had been many people searching in the internet on building a mechanical bull. Before building a mechanical bull, every potential buyer should know the risks involved and the effect of it to their business.

In 2003 a man was injured after being thrown from a bull at Porter County Fair and his family sought $50 million dollars in punitive damages from the owner of the ride. They also brought a claim for unspecified compensatory damages. Now, his injury was caused by being thrown against a steel frame that was inside the mattress. Obviously an inflatable mattress would have offered better protection. There are probably many more contributing causes, but the basic point being made is that even with the best made bull there is always a slight risk of injury. And the fact seems to be, that tripping over your own feet can bring about a lawsuit, even though the fault belongs to the participant and not the operator.

With the though of saving some money in building a mechanical bull and increasing the risks involved with it, are you willing to take the chance? Apparently, no insurance company insures home- built mechanical bulls. Since an insured bull is very important as far as protection on your business is concerned, it is a sound advice to buy mechanical bulls with insurance coverage. Although it will require a bit more, you will be able to save eventually.

Galaxy Multirides (The Rodeo Bull Company) is a company that builds mechanical bulls that are SO safe, that there is no problem whatsoever finding an insurance company to supply coverage. They can provide details of a number of reputable insurance companies who can provide coverage against any accidents that might happen. This can bring peace of mind for any company that is considering operating a mechanical bull. Not to mention the fact that a fully insured bull will open the doors to a lot more business. Although buying instead of building may result in the overall cost of the bull being greater, when potential damages are taken into account, an insured mechanical bull is always the wiser option.
