Brighten Up Race Day On The Color Run

By Debra Z. Hardeman

People that are not enthusiastic about running a regular run-of-the-mill race come from all over to participate in the Color Run each year. With more than 25 different racing places, people from all over can participate in the race all through the year. Along with the fun and enjoyment of taking part in the race, a charity from the local area will be benefitting from the race. Individuals can choose to run in the race or volunteer to be a part of the crew. Either way, participants are sure to have a colorful day.

Participants in the race will show up at race time wearing huge smiles and white t-shirts. They will set out at the starting line and run as swiftly as they can. Through every leg of the race they will be attacked with a color, and their shirts will no longer be white. Their white shirts will now adorn yellow, blue, purple, green, and pink colors as they have colored corn starch thrown at them all through the race. It is suggested that racers wear sunglasses to keep away the sun and protect their eyes from flying colors.

People can play a part in the Color Run as a volunteer if they don't want to race or are unable to. After all, the racers will need someone to get all of that color on them. Colored corn starch is tossed at the racers by the handful as they go by the volunteers throughout the race. Since they don't get to run in the race, volunteers can get rid of some of their anger and frustrations by throwing colors and having fun in exchange. Volunteers will receive an exclusive t-shirt for participating, but they will not be compensated for the work that they do. A part of the money collected from registration fees is given back to a local charity.

At the finish line of the 5K run, the racers will be a part of the grand finale where they will continue to throw handfuls of colored corn starch at each other. Food and music will also be offered at the finish line, so individuals who come out will get to make an entire day of the event. You don't have to participate in the race or volunteer to go to the celebration. The function is available for everyone to attend.

The Color Run is sure to brighten anyone's day and make running a race a fascinating experience. You are sure to locate a race near you, and more than 25 US cities host these races each year. You will be able to take pleasure in some great food and music, and spend the rest of the day with your friends and fellow racers after being covered in colored corn starch from head to toe.
