All About Non Lethal Conflict Resolution

By Helene Norris

Communities abound in all areas of the world. Some are located in cities but others are in more remote areas. These areas can support a wide variety of wildlife. Living in such proximity to these animals can seem idyllic at first but problems may develop later on. Non lethal conflict resolution methods can be used to deal with these problems.

There are many types of damage that these animals can inflict. The one that causes the most worry is when an animal directly attacks a human, so that injury or even loss of life results. In their search for food or just out of curiosity, they may destroy objects, cause damage to your house, or even harm domesticated animals.

Given the potential danger, communities that are in areas with abundant wildlife have to take precautions. There are many resources that one can turn to when it comes to learning how to deal with wildlife. Books are certainly a good source of information. Seminars are also one way of increasing knowledge. Local animal organizations may also be of help.

Not all animals will be harmful. There are others that cannot be considered a threat. If they put your life or health in danger though, then it is time to take a sit and assess the situation. Think about what has been happening and how this has affected you. If there are actual risks, then one must come up with an appropriate strategy.

When you are coming up with an approach, one must tailor it according to species. A method that is used for monkeys for example may not work on bears. The habit of the animal concerned must be put into consideration if one were to come up with an appropriate solution. Other factors such as the size of the population should also be taken into account.

There are many kinds of solutions that can be used. One may purchase a product that keeps the animal away. If one of your actions is causing it, then the situation could call for some change in your behavior. The environment could also be altered so that the animal will not find it as easy to enter your house or the community.

If you think that there is a possibility that something could happen, then do not wait for an attack to occur. You could start taking precautions and installing various preventive or protective structures around your property. By doing things in advance, encounters could lessen and the damage may not be as severe.

Not everyone will be able to handle these situations, especially when the animal is known to be a fierce predator. If you fear for your safety or do not know how to deal with the animal, then consider hiring a professional service. By paying an amount, you can get them to help you with the issues. Check beforehand if they have the expertise to handle the animal involved.

As humans continue to clear land for various purposes, more and more animals are displaced from their natural homes. This can result in various encounters that may not only endanger health but may also result to significant damage to property. Communities must be prepared with non lethal conflict resolution to deal with wildlife problems.
