Taking Care Of Virgin Brazilian Hair Extensions

By Dawn Williams

A good weave cannot be compromised. When it looks and feels natural, this is enough to make some envious. This is one of many reasons that virgin Brazilian hair extensions are becoming the most popular type of hair product to use for full weaves and hairpieces.

For some time, getting a weave that looks great without being bulky or stiff looking has been a challenge for those who are not rich. While some may be able to afford frequent trips to the salon or buy special products to keep their tresses maintained, this does not work for everybody. The good news is that someone did discover a solution to natural looking tresses that required little maintenance on its own.

Maintenance if often a challenge for wearers as finding a balance can be a challenge. Often one is maintained but the other is ignored, which can be a waste of money. Using the wrong products or methods can either ruin them, or the natural locks underneath may lack the moisture it needs to maintain this type of hairdo.

There is no one way for wearers to care for their extensions as natural hair types may vary. If the wearer has a scalp that gets oily scalp, a dry shampoo is good to apply to their roots during a regular shampoo. Otherwise, the extensions may be washed with a mild shampoo every two weeks. For the best wear, gently massage extensions from root to tip when shampooing.

Follow up every shampoo a light conditioner and use a deep conditioner on a monthly basis. Locks that are chemically treated or extremely dry will benefit from deep conditioning twice a month. When shampooing, wash out products carefully to prevent scalp buildup.

Use a thick towel to dry extensions by gently patting them. These have a natural wave pattern that is best maintained with air drying. For anyone who does want a wet scalp or has really thick tresses, a handheld dryer may be used on areas that are hard to dry.

The extensions should be combed out carefully using a comb with wide teeth or a brush designed for maintaining extensions. After shampooing, it is best to start by separating into quarter sections or smaller. From there, comb carefully working each section until it is untangled. For extra dry tresses, this is the time to apply a light oil or moisturizer scalp.

When it comes to styling, curling or flat irons should be used with caution as once the hair is straightened, the wave pattern cannot be reversed. There are many ways to apply extensions and the bond, adhesive method requires a different type of care that is normally found on the packaging. Anyone who is unsure about whether they should get this done or try certain techniques should consult a cosmetologist. They should be able to analyze the condition of the hair, which should be healthy in order to get the most out of virgin Brazilian hair extensions.
