Taking Care Of Designer Tote Bags

By Jeanette Riggs

One of the things that women these days would love to have would be one of those designer tote bags. For many women, having even just one expensive bag can make a lot of difference to their wardrobe or appearance. For anyone that own or still have plans on getting one, she has to be aware of the proper way to maintain or take care of these kinds of bags to prevent them from getting wasted.

If you own such expensive things, it is only normal that you would want to separate from other things in your possession. These things should be treated in a special manner by giving them their own storage space. Many women love their totes so much they place them in separate shelves or closets. By doing this, the bag will not be at risk of getting dirty or crushed by other things.

To keep your bag clean at all times while being stored, one thing you can do is cover it with something. You may buy dust covers that were made for bags or you can also make your own cover. Keeping the bag covered is effective in keeping the surface free from dust and other things that could make the bag look dirty.

Be careful with where you will place or leave your bag. Whether you are at home or at work, it should be placed somewhere it will not get squashed or dirty. Avoid placing it on your seat or on the table. Always bring a purse hanger so that you can create a good place to hang your bag on wherever you may go.

Rich materials like leather have to be maintained in a certain way for it to stay in good shape. Without proper maintenance, leather can become very brittle. To prevent this from happening, a tip is to apply leather conditioner on the surface every once in a while. Never use water, lotion, or cream on the surface.

To clean your bag, secure the right cleaning items and products first. Do not proceed unless you have read the label or done a little research. For new products, test it a similar surface to check if it should be used or not. Clean the inner part using a mild detergent. To apply any product, never directly apply it on the bag.

Be very considerate about what you will place in your bag. One of your things might damage the bag or make it very dirty. Those that have so many things can consider using a handbag organizer. This can help keep all of the things in place especially your mobile phone, pens, and cosmetic products.

Do your best to keep the bag away from anything that is moist. Keep in mind that leather does not do well with water. Make sure the place is dry before placing your bag and never bring it to any humid place.

Designer tote bags can bring a lot of joy. If you want it to make you happy for a long time, take very good care of it. Always be very careful with it and treat it as if it is your baby.
