You can hypothesize that the reason why there was an error in the designation of Sergeant Hack when the National Personnel Records Center of St. Louis released wrongful records of the military man addressing his final rank as an SPC or specialist. For some reason the POW network got to the military records of the man and released it in public. Maybe, this was in attempt to disprove the man of his claims that he retired as an SFC or sergeant first class in his battalion.
In fact, it was because of this experience with the US Coast Guard that his training as a Ranger was dilly dallied. There was an impending war in Vietnam at that time. They needed men to send to the war but before they could do that, these men needed to be trained.
That is why there is in an attempt to repair his reputation. This is to prevent further damage to the situation. There was a need that was felt to feed the information to the public straight from the horse's mouth so to speak.
The camp of the military man felt that there was a need for the public to know who he is really. They need to know him as a military man, businessman, husband and as a citizen of this country. They thought there is a need to correct the perception of the public about him that was brought up by the incorrect information published by other people.
The thing is that they are fighting for a war that is not theirs. But because they are sons of this country who believes in freedom of the world, they took it upon themselves to fight. They fight the war like it is their own business and help their neighboring countries in putting out a war that threatens to spread to the world.
That is because he never completed a ranger training. He has a story to tell about what really happened and why it came to that point why he never completed the ranger training. It is not like it was his fault.
One would have high expectations in offices like that when it comes to keeping your records correct and confidential. But sadly mistakes happen. The damage has been done already.
Later representatives from the office of the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis acknowledge the error. They admitted they were in the wrong in putting the incorrect final rank of the man. The confusion as to what rank should be accorded to him is not surprising at all given the circumstances that marked his military service but totally inexcusable because the military records office is expected to be knowledgeable and to do the right thing.
Sergeant Hack can only hope that a website put for him would slowly or little by little straighten out the information. The soldier's business is into making military supplies such bomber jackets and gears. The business is called the US wings which he and his wife helped in building.
