Choosing The Right Canon EOS Camera

By Raymond Ebersole

Any professional photographer will tell you that your choice of camera matters greatly. While taking family photos on vacation, it may not matter greatly how clear or accurate the shot is. Such pictures are made for entertainment purposes and to serve as mementos. However, if your interests lie in getting into photography as a hobby or business, then you need to pick the right equipment. The Canon EOS is one of the best lines of cameras to invest in.

The line began in 1987 and still continues today. The first camera to come off the line was the EOS 650 and was very special as it was one of the first in the market to provide photographers with auto focus options. The lens also contained motors that helped to control its movement.

The line of cameras has been quite long over the years. Every two years, several cameras are released while others cease production. Each one is an upgrade on the previous one. As a result, the Canon line is able to provide a wide selection of cameras for anyone who is an amateur or a professional photographer.

An example of camera suitable for professionals is the EOS 5D Mark II. This is a high end-camera that is sought after by photographers across the world. Its high price is probably what makes it a luxury item to most, as its normal retail price is around three thousand dollars. It has great sensor functions that allow it to more easily capture clear images of fast moving subjects. It can also take a large number of frames in succession without compromising on performance.

The EOS 1100D is an entry-level camera that is low resolution but still offers auto focus features. This lightweight, plastic camera is popular for enthusiasts looking to upgrade from regular digital cameras. It is simple to understand and reacts quickly to adjustments. Priced at about four hundred dollars, it is a great first camera option for an amateur.

Last year the line got a boost from developments in its autofocus functioning. Several cameras were introduced that received 61 auto focus points. That means that the cameras can focus on images much more clearly. This increase in points highlights these cameras unique since the next biggest competitor has only reached 51 points. Photographers can, however, still opt for manual focusing if they desire.

There are several external factors that make a good shot difficult to achieve. Lighting conditions may be too bright or dark. The auto focus function might be moving at a slow rate. Such factors may make it hard to capture a good picture. Given such situations, having a good camera can go a long way in sorting out the problem.

As part of acquiring good skills, a photographer will need to get the right camera and learn how to use it well. The Canon EOS line is a good choice as it allows you to progress as you become more competent and confident in your skills. The line's products have been around for more than twenty years and only continue to improve.
