We Protect Our 2nd Amendment Rights Because They Must Be Protected

By Jennie Sandoval

Proponents of the second amendment are faced with almost insurmountable odds of getting people to really understand what is going on This is largely due to lawmakers mounting a predominantly emotional appeal to allow them to do something. Others facing off against peoples rights are the many who do not get a clear picture of what is involved. In order to protect our 2nd amendment rights, we need to help people ignore the ignorance about this issue in the press.

The large majority of people that are listened to, by the press, will tell us that our second amendment rights are not really rights. They say we should not be so old fashioned and want to have guns because guns kill. Every one of these individuals have or have had, concealed weapons permits. Those that do not will always travel protected by those who do have those weapons. These are the first ones that will tell you that you should not exercise your rights

Those who do want to preserve the second amendment have to listen to a senior Senator from New York who says that guns have claimed millions of children in our country. This obvious lie is broadcast far and wide without the least amount of fact checking. Other comments will be published, of a similar nature, and all of them fit the template the media has. That template is that guns are bad and regular people should not have them.

The many gun laws that are in existence would not have stopped the massacre of children and teachers at Sandy Hook, because, as a criminal, the shooter did not follow them. Not only that, the gun free zone that was the school allowed him to shoot all that he did. He knew there was not going to be anyone with a gun in there to stop him.

All of the reporting about the emotional pleadings of people who have agendas or are just wanting to get along with who they believe is almost everybody fails to mention many facts. Among these facts are that gun crimes have fallen since a high in 1993. The major news media reports every crime that happens and expands on them to the point that many people do not hear about the lower gun crime rates.

The 27 words that make up the second amendment deals with individual peoples rights to own and use guns. It does not, as many law makers will want you to believe, have anything to do with hunting. It does talk about this need to preserve a free society. The only way a society is less free is when tyranny conspires others to remove this right from them.

States such as California, New York and Connecticut have large gun crime rates because of one little fact that is not mentioned in the media. The city of Chicago, Illinois and Washington DC have the same problem. They have extremely tough and restrictive gun laws.

The only way to truly protect our 2nd amendment rights is to first, know them. Research what happened in the early days of our republic. Find out what modern day gun grabbers really want to do. Read newspaper or broadcast news with a grain of salt and think for yourself.
