Games to have fun with NERF guns

By Kenneth Sjoberg

NERF guns are toy guns made mainly of plastic that launch soft foam darts. The guns utilize a blast of air to shoot the darts. With most NERF guns you have to charge the gun before each shot, by pulling a slide on the gun. Nerf guns can be found in a variety of designs that mimic genuine firearms: revolvers, semi-automatic pistols and rifles. Their styling has the tendency to be hugely overstated and colorful. They are fun to have fun with.

NERF guns are not considered an unsafe toy, as the mass and velocity of the dart are too low to trigger injury to any part of the body other than for perhaps the eyes. For that reason, it is smart to avoid shooting at somebody's head in order to avoid hitting the eyes. Using safety eyewear may be wise. Due to minimum impact of the NERF dart, they are generally safe to use within the home.

There are lots of different games that can be played with NERF guns|. These games are lots of fun and train various skills. Below I'll provide some examples of some games you can play your own risk.

Target practice-- My favorite game is to use an empty tissue box and put it on its side with the opening towards you. Now attempt and shoot as many darts as you possibly can into the box from a distance of a minimum of 6 feet / 1.8 m. To avoid the box from moving when you shoot into it, put it with it's back against a wall or some other strong flat object. To prevent darts from bouncing out of the box, line the back wall with some tissues. When you get truly great, increase the distance.

The old-fashioned gentlemen's battle is a fun NERF game for 2. You have most likely seen this in a movie. The individuals stand near each other with their backs turned towards each other. As the game leader counts out loud to four, each individual takes 4 steps and then turns around pointing their gun at the floor. On the count of 3, the individuals try to shoot each other. The person who first strikes the other individual wins.

Flag hunt is one of my favorite games. Four individuals is the minimum. Split up into 2 groups. Each group gets a flag and needs to conceal it someplace in the battle zone. The groups likewise choose a recovery spot. The objective of the game is discover the other group's flag. The groups shoot at each other to defend and attack. A player who's been struck by a dart, must raise his/her hands and return to the recuperation spot before he / she can join the game again.

As you can see there are lots of enjoyable games to play with NERF guns. For the more intense games, make sure to wear safety glasses to avoid injury to the eyes.
