Science Fiction Books For Kids

There are some really great science fiction books for kids to read. This has always been a very popular genre as youngsters love to loose themselves in other worlds. They are fascinated by the ideas presented in these books and the potential for a world very different to the one we live in.

Many youngster are captivated by the idea of other worlds. The creatures that inhabit those other worlds can stretch the limits of any imagination. Robots, time travel, advanced technology and complex civilizations are truly engaging for young minds. Many authors create a series of books around a planet or character. This is a great way to really get involved in literature. Following the lives and adventures of a favorite character is totally compelling.

There are excellent science fiction works for readers of all ages and levels. Even those who have just started to read independently will find some great titles. Anything with an alien in the title seems to jump off the shelf and fascinate the child. Most of the works for younger reader are beautifully illustrated and will quickly become family favorites.

One of the best series to come along in recent years is Artemis Fowl. These highly acclaimed stories follow the adventures of a young boy in a magical world. There is enough technology to keep the most modern child engaged, yet the fantasy of the faerie world is still so endearing. The series has also been produced on tape which also helps to grab the interest of youngsters and prompts them to read the books.

Dan Gutman is one of the most popular authors of children's science fiction. His work is fast paced, exciting and often educational. Parents love to see their kids discovering the past and learning about famous inventors. Gutman does an outstanding job of bringing these historical figures to life and giving them emotions we can all relate to. Children are fascinated to see Thomas Edison struggling to perfect his inventions and getting help from some kids along the way.

Many science fiction works have really stood the test of time. One of these is The Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet by Elenor Cameron. This classic work has been popular with young readers since the 1950's. It features the adventure of two boys who blast off in a homemade rocket. Kids can easily picture themselves in such a wonderful adventure.

One of the more recent works to hit the shelves is the highly acclaimed Artemis Fowl series. These works were an instant hit with kids all over the world. Children are enthralled by the amazing combination of technology, magic and the faerie world. These elements never loose their wonder and many parents find themselves reading and enjoying the books too. Finding a really great series like this is often a turning point in a child's life. They suddenly become aware of the wonderful world of literature and start out on the path to becoming life long readers.

The big screen also has an influence on science fiction books for kids. After seeing a popular movie many readers seek out the book as well. An excellent example of this is Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games. The movies was a phenomenal success and the book quickly sold millions of copies and is being enjoyed by readers around the world.
