Pet Burial Markers And Memorials

By Muriel Noel

No one likes to lose a loved one. When it comes to pets, most people feel they are the same as a relative or any other member of the family. When it's time to lay them to rest, it's important to choose the best pet burial markers available.

During any pet's life, there are usually so many pictures taken of them. People enjoy reminiscing and looking through these picture albums, back to the times when their animal was the most healthy and fit. Seeing images of the animal playing in a backyard or laying on furniture warms their hearts once more.

When it comes to preparing the animal for disposal and for owners to move to the next stage in their grief, many will choose cremation. Cremated pets can be kept in elegant urns in the family home. Some people will put them where the pets often laid or slept, just so it feels like they are still close.

Animal graveyards also help acknowledge how important pets are to families and to people. Cities and suburbs will often keep a special section just for pets who have been lost. The graveyard monuments that one can see there show the love these people had.

Many a marker will have a saying on it. They might be a quote from the owners themselves or they might be a quote about animals and the humans who love them. Some will be a phrase said to the animal often. Every marker will typically include the years the animal was cherished and loved, from birth to death.

A headstone doesn't have to be fancy. What's most important is that it be a part of the closure process for the owner. Grieving over pets is natural and expected. Choosing things like grave sites and pet burial markers helps an owner move from loss to respectful mourning and acceptance.
