Three's A Crowd That Destroys Love With Cheating Text Messages

By Amie Rutledge

Mobile phones allow the ability to transmit and receive short written messages to other phones through SMS. Short message service began in 2005 and is the most heavily trafficked communications application globally, with 74% of the population texting. The exchange of sexual content and photographs between mobile users is referenced as sexting. When designed to satisfy prurient interests, it is often a secretive endeavor that is done in the context of cheating text messages.

The inception of texting created new avenues of social interaction never before possible. Mobile phone technology allows the incorporation of instant cameras with the capacity to send photos and videos, easily transmitting explicit or obscene material. Advanced technology has unleashed new dangers in legalities, pornographic activity and breaches of trust.

Text messages live on in cyberspace forever where anonymity is a false assumption. The world is privy to revelations and betrayals that have destroyed marriages, careers and lives of the rich and famous. Tragic events have unfolded in teenage and college suicides after being the subject of sexual betrayal via phone technology and the internet.

Chexting is the latest term for sexually intimate messages exchanged between an unfaithful spouse with someone other than their marital partner over mobile phone devices. Technology allows communication when voice calls are unacceptable or impossible.

The ease of social networking spans the globe with the power to connect all people in a heartbeat. The sense of anonymity and discretion are as false as the untrustworthy spouse that relies on sexting. There has been an upsurge in the number of lawsuits filed for alienation of affection by the injured party involving chexting. As new issues and situations develop with the use of sexting, more methodologies are created for uncovering abuse through inappropriate activity.

A loving, marital relationship that is damaged via alienation of affections as a result of interference by an outsider has just cause to file suit in the 7-states that uphold this law. These states validate the destructive impact of emotional affairs, irrespective of physical involvement. A recent North Carolina lawsuit resulted in a $9 million award for damages to the injured spouse, validating the deleterious consequences of chexting.

Few events are more life-altering than learning your love relationship is based on lies. The foundation of love is built on openness and trust. Nothing can justify the discovery of cheating text messages nor deny the damaging betrayal they represent. The faith, hope and love in a relationship that was supposed to last a lifetime is left in shambles.
