Fashion Designers : The Favorites Of 2011

By Richard Stokes

It sometimes seems that fashion changes faster than you can follow it, but it's always full of exciting, thrilling designs that capture huge imaginations. This guide looks at some famous fashion designers in 2011 to give you an idea of what's going on in the fashion world right now. One current hot designer is Issa. This is a designer loved by the Duchess of Cambridge, and Camilla al Fayed has just bought a controlling stake in this increasingly sought-after designer, who is based in London.

Another massively popular designer right now is Alexander McQueen. Sadly, Alexander McQueen himself passed away in 2010, but his creative director Sarah Burton has continued to keep the brand fresh and relevant - she even designed Kate Middleton's wedding dress in 2011, making this another designer with a good 'Royal connection'. The label continues to do well and is famous for its designs that get people talking, including statement pieces and memorable prints, as well as timeless pieces that combine the classics and modernity.

Donatella Versace is another top 2011 fashion designer. The house of Versace has long been one of the most popular and most famous brands in the world, but now the label is becoming even more relevant; Donatella Versace has recently been revealed as designing clothes for high street label H&M. Those designs are sure to be a hot ticket for a brand that is never far from the limelight. The current Versace collection is full of clean tailoring and bright summer colors, along with some sensational evening wear.

There are also a few newer designers making waves in 2011. One of them is from Australia and he is called Dion Lee. His most recent shows have been causing something of a stir in the fashion world and he is said to be one of the best designers to come out of Australia for a long time. This is impressive, especially when you consider that he's only 24 and still has decades to do ever better things - we're sure to see more from him in the future.

We can also expect to see more from Spanish-born designer Emilio de la Morena. He now works a lot in London but his Spanish influences are more than clear in his designs, which are often very ornate and exciting. His clothes often appear to be moving sculptures and he describes the type of woman to wear his clothes as 'strong and modern'. This is certainly something that is evident in the clothes he designs and it will be interesting to see what he does next.
