How To Write A Sci Fi Horror Book Review

By Estelle Larsen

Everyone who wants to start as a writer can use book reviews as their stepping stone. Those who want to become bloggers can also start out their career by writing reviews for every genre, whether it be love comedy or sci fi horror. In order to make good reviews for the book you have just read, here are the tips that you should take note of.

First, it is vital that you write a good synopsis of the review you are making. Do not just copy and paste the teaser that you can find at the back of the novel. It is preferable for you to make your own teaser. The synopsis does not have to be detailed. It should just contain the information on the book's basic plot.

When writing the review, decide what is okay to reveal and what is not. Avoid spoiling the excitement for your readers by giving away the book's ending. You have to be careful that you do not end up divulging all details that will make every reader excited when reading the book.

Do not forget to talk about the key characters. You can give a run down of each of the key players, their motivations, unique quirks, and even their importance in the story. It will also make the review more interesting if you add in the connection of one key player to another. You can work out their descriptions in this.

The book should have an importance in the literary art world. It can be that this book has something to say about the current society or that it picks on the human conditions. If you find these hidden meanings, then you should learn how to break them down for the sake of the readers who are interested in reading the said book.

It will help if you can keep your balance when you are reviewing. Avoid being overly negative or exaggeratedly positive when you are writing the review. Such reviews such. If you bash the writer of the story, you will just come off as a villain. If you are to enthusiastic about it, it can mean bias.

Do not hesitate to ask questions. Most people find questions fun. If you can use questions to stir up the imagination of the readers, then that should be good. Place good questions to draw people in. By using questions, you might be able to point out the questions in the back of the reader's mind that has been bugging him or her unconsciously.

Try to work in a few links into the said review. You got to give them these links if you want the readers to obtain more information on the book. There are many types of links you can use. It can be a URL to the writer's website, to sites where the book is being sold, and so much more.

Having your own quirks and flair in your writing is good. It will allow you to write a review that is distinctively yours. You can then set yourself apart from others. Your review will be more memorable if you add your own flavor into it.
