Conservative Vs Liberal Is A Debate Worth Having

By Adela Beasley

Conservative vs liberal is the presentation given by the news media on a daily basis. The ability of these agencies to present them in a balanced way, however, has been compromised for quite some time. This is based on their selection of one side over the other for the last 30 years. A comparison of the two ideologies is appropriate.

One of the Liberal icons, of his day, was John F Kennedy. One of his positions was to reduce the income tax rate of all individuals and this position is clearly within the realm of Conservatives, today. Modern Liberals, now named Progressives, would not have applauded him if he said that today.

Progressives believe that people and their money should be parted, more and more, as these politicians know better about how to spend it. It has caused debt and borrowing at unprecedented levels. BY allowing people to keep more of what they earn, they are in charge of their financial futures and the economy can run as it has, driven by market forces. All of the added debt is considered generational theft by Conservatives.

When the discussion turns to choice, Progressives will state they are the only ones that allow choice. Looking into this deeper, you see that a choice is only allowed in one particular area. They do not want school choice. They do not want self defense choices made outside their own selection which is extremely limited. They do not recognize the rights of States to determine things such as their own sovereignty. Conservatives take to heart the entire US Constitution.

Appealing to the low information voter in an emotional way, the Progressive will use straw men to build their case for more of the same. This will be promoted as being the fix for something that has failed to work properly or worked to make the issue worse. The break down in the American culture can be traced to the installation of these types of programs that fail every time.

Progressives do stand behind the first amendment, as far as they trust it. Religious freedoms do not bother them as these should be done away with if they interfere with their concept of a government that is empowered to do things for the people. Conservatives know that the United States was formed by religious people and it has stood by all religions regardless of nature or none at all.

Deciding that the country will not suffer if there is universal malaise based on a slowing of the economy, the Progressives have lost any semblance of monetary knowledge they might have had. Promoting more unemployment benefits as a way to boost the economy and create more jobs, they have given up the economic authority to decide what should happen in these areas. The passage of massive bills that only serve to obfuscate the truth that they do not work is one of the tell tale signs of economic and moral ignorance.

When thinking about a conservative vs liberal issue, look for what is not said. One side will talk about intentions and what the government needs to do for the people regardless of how that plan actually works. The other side will talk about allowing the people to be able to afford to do for themselves with regulations that make sense and an economic system that stays out of the way. Policies that have to be voted on in the middle of the night will rarely be effective for the people.
