Selecting Music Promoter As Your Career

By Kevin Cox

Every human being has their own style of music. Some may like classical. Others may be into pop and jazz. While other people jam with rock. Despite the different genre of songs, you cannot argue that music usually connects people. As a result, some aspire to become a singer to express their own love of music. However, not all people are talented enough to sing and achieve the perfect pitch. No worries with that because they can still walk to that musical path by being a concert promoter.

For sure you had dreamt before on collaborating with our favorite singers. You perhaps had wished you could have some opportunities to collaborate with them. However, your talent is incomparable to them since you cannot sing nor dance as well. Unfortunately, the least you can do is just watch them afar on stage while performing a concert. And speaking of that, you might probably wonder on how concerts were made.

You think the agents are those people behind on setting up those shows? You think that the bands are the one doing all promotions so people can watch them. Well partly they did some tasks but those jobs are mainly done by music promoters. Perhaps you did not hear that profession always. Nevertheless, those individuals are in charge of promoting, booking, negotiating and many more.

Needless to say, their main job is to broadcast or advertise the concert of an artist. To do that, they have to cooperate and collaborate with the agents or the bands as well as the concert venues wherein the show is going to hold. Its job description sounds so tough and indeed it is. But with your strong passion for music and organizing skills, you can pull this off.

You have two paths on becoming a promoter. First one, you may start your career by working with some concert promotion companies. These companies are established and others might manage big-name or famous artists that will be going to have a show.

However, it might still take some time to become a lead promoter as you have to start from the basics like giving out flyers to random people. Other than that, you also might be working with some artists you cannot tolerate with. But once you reached the top, more artists will surely come to you to do a promotion.

The second one is called Indie Promoting. Basically, you just have to find some local bands you like and negotiate with them in doing promotions. Aside from that, you are now the leader of this path with lots of responsibilities on your back.

Though you got the freedom, this path may be tough too. You certainly must have good background in business and marketing so your negotiations will go well plus you must be organized too. Remember that your money might be put into risk here. You too need to choose the right band too because you may end up promoting an artist that everyone hates.

Your love for songs and melodies will certainly not perish in this career. In fact, no need for college degree to attain this. So are you ready to become one now?
