Basic Information Regarding GOP Patriots And Their Policies

By Daniel Collins

Republican Party, also known as Grand Old Party or GOP, is among the two political parties that are major in United States. The name was derived from republicanism which is the value dominant during the American Revolution. They were founded by activists against slavery, economic modernizers and former members of the Whigs and the Free Soilers.

The current ideology is American conservatism and its platform involves the support for deregulation, fiscal conservatism, free market capitalism, free enterprise, labor union restrictions, and strong national defense. Located everywhere are volunteer organizations which includes Potomac GOP Patriots that will reach to communities out to advocate, discuss and campaign conservative principles. These are district subcommittee in their place.

They look in promoting traditional values based largely in ethics of Judeo Christian because they are socially conservative. Abortion, illegal immigration, gun control, marijuana use, same sex marriage and affirmative action are what they oppose. They support also the status change of Puerto Rico into becoming a state for the Union instead of being a territory of United States.

They strongly believe free markets and individual achievement are the primary factors in economic prosperity. Eliminating welfare programs handled by government while favoring charity work in helping poor people with private sectors is advocated. Social assistance programs would result with state dependency instead of individuals being responsible of their circumstances.

Supply side economics is a theory they advocate which states economic growth increases with lower tax rates. Many Republicans are against the higher tax rates for those earning more because they believe its targeting those creating jobs and wealth unfairly. Private spending is believed to be more efficient compared to government spending.

They believe employment practices must be established by the corporations themselves which includes wages and benefits and the free market deciding their value. Labor unions have generally opposed them because of these laws against them. Increase in minimum wage was oppose because they think businesses are hurt by this that forces outsourcing and cutting of jobs with consumers receiving the costs.

Strict constructionism or the judicial philosophy of closely interpreting the Constitution to the intent it originally had if applicable is supported by them. They favor judicial restraint that encourages judges in limiting the exercise of their powers and upholding precedents of past judges. They believe in federalism though states should have larger roles and limitations for federal authorities as well.

Historically, their leaders support environmental regulations and policies for its protection were signed before. Their position though has since been changed then from combating climate change as their previous goal to becoming non believers of its existence. Limitations against emissions of carbon and the greenhouse gas are rejected which draws criticism from activists. Although other members which have higher positions have different beliefs regarding climate change that is unusual with them.

Dealing with illegal immigration among the Republicans is different with establishment types that supports migrant workers having the path to citizenship. Populists though support in securing the border and deporting illegal immigrants. International relations and their defense is influenced heavily by theories faceless forces conflicts rather than leaders influencing it.
