A stunning showpiece like no other, remarkably from Lego

By Adolfo Blasius

One of LEGO's newest sets is the LEGO Black Pearl . It offers over eight hundred blocks, and includes six characters from the movie. When finished, it stands almost 2 feet high and 21 inches long, which forms an amazing kit that can be terrific for play or as a standalone display .

Besides the regular LEGO blocks, the dark-gray sails are constructed with real fabric, to provide a little more realistic feel to the design. The set consist of three instruction booklets, and a large size poster .

The LEGO Black Pearl comes with:

- 804 pieces in total.

- Measures 21 inches long x 20 inches high x 5 inches wide.

- Six figures including Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Joshamee Gibbs, Davy Jones, Maccus and Bootstrap Bill.

- Featuring a detailed interior cabin, firing canons, black fabric sails, Jolly Roger pirate flag and anchor.

- Aimed at ages 8-14.

For youngsters aged between 8-14, this is a ideal LEGO set. It's tricky enough to make it challenging (particularly for the ages closer to 8), nonetheless it isn't so challenging to make it mind-boggling for them. I think an 8 year-old should be able to assemble it in just a few hours, maybe with help from a grownup on a few areas, but in general it will be an enjoyable experience for them.

Upon completion, the ship does look really good, and there is lots that a child can do with it as much as play goes. Captain Jack's thorough cabin to explore, the firing cannons and detachable floorboards are just some of the characteristics of the kit.

The darkish fabric sails certainly add to the set, and does a superb job of reproducing the atmosphere of the movie. LEGO could possibly have satisfied themselves with using just plastic, nevertheless the fabric does provide an excellent contrast. Even if not played with, it makes for a wonderful display set.

Based on where you shop, this package can cost you a fair bit, therefore isn't the greatest value for moneyHowever, there are various places where the kit is sold for less than LEGO's recommended retail price, that is certainly wonderful.

Other than the odd set having missing pieces (which will be sent out to you by LEGO), there's little else to say that is actually unfavorable about the design. Most negative issues with this product are very minor and shouldn't affect your final decision to buy it or not.

All in all, this set is very nice and encapsulates the essence of the Pirates series well. The included six figures are a great bonus, as extra characters really help populate the deck and make the ship look occupied. Plus they provide even more play choices for children. It is both a lot of fun to put together and extremely playable as well. We give this set a clear thumbs up.
