With so many iPhone 5 concept videos and photos out there, it's challenging to know which one to believe. Even though they are merely speculations, it must be remembered that leaked pictures and videos often have truth to them, so we should not dismiss them all in all. There are several features described in these speculations that seem too so good to be believable, but you can also find those that aren't really impossible to have in Apple's next generation iPhone.
One of many iPhone 5 rumours that seem unlikely would be a "stretchable" iPhone. There are videos online which demonstrates the iPhone becoming an iPad mini and vice versa by merely doing a pinch - zoom gesture. The idea is likely based on the rubber band electronics technology, which is still at its infancy, so it is improbable that this feature will be available in the upcoming iPhone model. Another rumour that made the rounds early last year is that the screen on thenew generation iPhone will be see-through. This rumour is probably founded on the see-through screen that HP was developing and acquired a US patent for in July this year. However, HP has yet to put this technology to use, so it would be improbable to have an iPhone with the same feature by the time the latest model is released a few days from now.
What's almost certain though is that the iPhone 5 will make use of a new LCD technology as suggested by the patent filings released on the Web months ago. The said patent details the integrating touch sensing elements with the display circuit rather than having them on a different layer as is done today. The new LCD technology will simplify manufacturing, reduce per unit cost, and produce a thinner phone. There are other rumoured features in the iPhone 5 which are very probable. For instance, it can feature NFC technology that lets smart phones to link with each other through radio frequency, specifically by touching them together or placing them close to each other. There are several existing and feasible applications of this technology, one of these is providing you the opportunity to use the smart phone as a digital wallet. Last year, smart phone makers released around forty NFC-enabled handsets. Strangely enough, Apple was not one of these makers, so maybe this year we will already have an NFC-enabled iPhone.
The upcoming iPhone model is also likely going to have a bigger, if not taller display. iPhones since their inception had 3.5 inch displays. Going for a four-inch screen is not only achievable, but would also likely boost sales for Apple given that one of the issues that discourage people from buying the iPhone is its small screen size. However, these are simply suppositions. The launch of the new apple iphone 5 will be in a few days though, so we'll simply have to wait and see if the rumours are correct.
