Special Phone Service For Elderly

By Arthur Phillips

Many senior citizens still live with low income which would most likely come from pensions and other government subsidies. Now because of this, many foundations have actually opted to provide a free phone service for elderly folks. If one is a senior citizen and would like to avail of these services, then are are the things to take note of.

Now seniors would often need cellphones so that they may call someone in the event that an emergency would happen. Some programs would offer free cellphones for seniors so that they are able to call someone wherever they are. The foundation holding the program will not only provide a phone but also the plan that comes with the phone.

Now the reason as to why there would be an evaluation first is simply because foundations do not want this program abused. So the qualifications of most programs would be for the senior citizen to have a certain income level. The foundation would only support those who are below or at the income level required by the program.

Now aside from that, there are other programs that would provide free home phones to senior citizens. Now this type of service can be very practical for the old folks who do not prefer to use cellphones and would stay home most of the time. Now the foundation that provides this service would be the ones to take care of any costs so that the old folks can just sit back and relax.

There are even companies out there that would provide cellphones specifically to the lifestyle of the senior citizen applying for the free cellphone. What some companies would do is that they would offer senior plans wherein the cash in and payments are low. After they have applied for the plan, then these seniors may choose from the list of phones the company offers.

One of the best plans for seniors would be the Jitterbug. This is a very interesting monthly plan that targets the seniors that have low incomes. This monthly plan would also take out some of those extra fees that most plans have like the long distance charges and the cancellation charges.

Last on the list would be a special type of device for those senior citizens who would have a hard time hearing. A lot of foundations would provide this for free because most senior citizens have a hard time hearing so they would need a device that allows them to get past that disability. Basically this device would allow one to speak to people using a screen where in the words of the person he is speaking to would appear so that he does not need to strain his ears.

So basically, those are some of the free services that a lot of foundations and companies would have to offer. Because most seniors would have a hard time getting around, it pays to have good phones to help them. At least with these services, senior citizens everywhere around the country can be helped.
