A Guide On How To Draw Scenery

By Lisa Perry

Sketching a scenery like a forest or a small down is extremely fulfilling because it can give viewers a chance to see a normal everyday scenery at a whole new different light. Now if one would want to sketch this kind of drawing, there would be a systematic way to do it. One will learn how to draw with this guide for beginners.

First of all, one has to know the focus point of his scenery or the center point. For those who do not know what this is, this is basically the point of origin of the scene that one is going to sketch. One will also be basing all of the things that he will put in the drawing on this point of origin.

Now once one has already figured out his point of origin, he should mark the point of origin with a tiny dot so that he knows where it is. After that, he should light draw lines emitting from the point of origin so that he knows where to put things. One has to remember that the lines here have to be straight so that he will not have a hard time which is why it would be better to have a ruler on him.

After that has been done already, then one must draw next the horizon line. Now if one is not familiar with what this horizon line is, basically it is a horizontal line that would separate the land and the sky. Now this is drawn to make sure that one will have a clearer picture as to where he would draw some of the structures that would seem further away.

After all those lines, one may then add some of the structures like the people, the trees, the buildings, or the sun depending on what he would want to sketch. Now going back to the focus point, one has to make sure that everything near the focus point would be smaller than the structures near he corners. To put it simply, one should draw things smaller as he gets to the focus point. The principle behind this is that the structures nearer to the corners are zoomed in from the view of the artist.

So if the structures that are nearer to the corners are zoomed in, then the ones nearer to the focus point are the structures that are far from the artist. With this in mind, it is possible to draw in some sort of angle. So whenever one would sketch, scenery, he must take note of these principles.

Now in order to really make the sketch come to life, then it would be nice to add a little bit of shading. The one trick to doing this is to first make sure where the light would be coming from in the picture. Then the next thing to do is to shade the side that the light is not facing.

So as one can see, there is actually a very systematic way of drawing scenery. If one would follow these steps in creating a portrait, then he will find things to be so much easier. It would always be easier to start out rough first and then go on to the detailing later on.
