Best Tips For Tattoo Photography

By Sharron Cantu

In the present day, there have been very many charismatic tattoo artists coming up and even more celebrities embracing this art. This has led to many people to accept this art and it has led to a new profession called tattoo photography. Many people will really like to see their tattoos on famous websites or magazines but only if they have been captured well. There are several tips that should be followed to create perfect ink photographs.

One of the most important things that they should always do is make sure that the tattoo is fully healed before taking snaps of it. Taking snaps when it is still red and sore will not give that attractive look but look as something really painful that people should fear. Secondly, when taking the photo photographers must always make sure that the tattoo is in the focus of the lens. The model should only pose in positions that make the tattoos visible to the camera.

Another important thing to be deliberated is the kind of lighting when taking the photos. Daytime lighting is normally the best as it produces good photos and at the same time it is completely free. The best illumination is during the sunset or on hazy days when the sun is not too bright. Neon colors such as the ones in bathrooms are not good enough for photographs hence they must be avoided.

Street style has developed to be a popular trend therefore the photos will look better when taken in an outside setting. It makes pictures very beautiful and stylish. To add a slight bit of mystery in the art, the snapper can enhance tattoos and make any other parts in the picture shadowy.

The type of setting chosen for the shoot must also be chosen carefully. Some settings can make the photographs unpleasant. The picture can be adjusted to look artier by making the setting colorful possibly with some drawings, graphic murals or a portrait. A tattooing studio may also be a perfect setting for the photography.

The outfit chosen in the shoot should also be chosen wisely. In order to have classy photos, an undressed model is not suggested. The photographer must reflect on the target viewers when choosing the clothing so that they send the right message. It is not tattoos that are expected to balance the style but vice versa.

In this type of profession, the tattoos are the main message. If the photographer wishes to make a statement picture, they may choose to hide the face of the model so as to focus all the attention on the art. Having the face of the model in the picture will make it seem like normal photography with the only difference being that the model has been inked.

Tips that can be applied in other types of photography are usually easily acquired but photographing tattoos is something that never has clear cut tips. The most important thing in this profession is creativity. Creativity will help the photographer to achieve things that they never even knew they could. This profession also requires a lot of patience for it may take time to master all the best techniques.
