Top 5 Questions to Ask a Banquet Room Manager

By Seomul Evans

When planning for an event, be it a wedding, business gathering, or anniversary, there are many things that you need to address. Looking for a banquet room is one of them. To ensure that you get the best venue, create a list of questions and raise them when you speak with the venue manager. Some of the most important questions to ask are:

How Long Have You Been in Business?

This question will help you identify whether the business has remained under the same ownership since day one. If it has changed hands frequently, it can only mean that the business struggles all through the years of its existence. Subtly, you can somehow form an opinion about the quality of service the business offers. Go for a reputable facility instead.

Does This Facility Accommodate All the Quests?

You should find a banquet room, where you can accommodate all the guests comfortably and properly according to the size of your event. Make sure that the room is big enough to accommodate all the people, including amenities like food catering and multimedia equipments. Ask the question in terms of the parking facility to accommodate vehicle coming to the venue. If parking is possible, ask whether the security officers are provided in the area or not.

Do You Provide Catering and Bar Services?

Food and drinks have always been a main part of any event to make it successful and memorable. In general, a banquet room may not offer a catering service. In addition, any outside food and access to their kitchen area may be refused as well. Therefore, get the specifics of their catering policy and compare them with other rental facilities. You can also customize the menu if you have personal preferences with regard to food.

What Comes With the Rental Fee?

You should be cautious about the cost and what it entails. Some facilities charge an all-inclusive per guest cost, however, other charge a flat rate rental fee for the space alone and separate costs for food, drink, music, etc. After the event, you have got to review the breakdown of costs to make sure that you are not paying for any unused item like un-served menu, unopened bottles of drinks, etc. so that you can save money. Moreover, you should talk about theirs cancellation policy, refund policy, mode of payment and overtime fee before paying required initial deposit.

Do You Provide Venue Staff During the Event?

You should ask about the manpower in the form of staff that can control and maintain the ambience of the affair. This ensures you that you have enough venue staff to assist you from the preparation stage up to the after-party. Keeping this point in mind, ask the banquet room manager about other booking that share the same date and time with your event. You may have shared resource like parking, restrooms and venue staff with other parties that can affect your event.

While the internet can generate loads of information about many different event venues, it can't provide you with certain specifications that you need when forming an opinion. To ensure that your event goes smoothly, you need to speak with the banquet room manager to get straight answers to your questions.
