Good initiative and creative skills are necessary of any painter who wants to succeed in this type of industry. An artist should have initiatives in his work by coming up with projects and proposals out of their own initiatives without being guided. They are also required to be creative by developing innovative ideas in their minds which they translate into the actual picture.

They are expected to have strong and stunning imagination when it comes to mixing different colors of paints for their artistry work. They are also required to have good skills in combining shapes and textures if they wish to design beautiful pictures.

The next step is to figure out the how the work will be done and this will involve tools and materials that will be used to prepare the picture, the time to be taken and the cost. Beginners are expected to start with low cost images which are simple and do not require so much time to make. Experienced artists normally have the skills and ability to make complex pictures for their clients and the public but should come up with products that are within their reach.

This will help them in deciding whether the idea is attainable or not given the prevailing conditions. These factors can either be personal factors such lack of resources or could be from external environment.

The artist is required to have good planning and organizational skills in order to execute their works well and within the budget and time frame. Planning the work schedule, materials to be used, time management and even financial planning is required of any painter. Failure to plan could result in poor products due to lack of time and money to carry out the work as expected.

The actual work of art then follows the process of assembling tools and material for the work. This is done in bits as the painter assesses the picture or image to make sure that is the intended product. Breaks after breaks are taken to provide the artist with an opportunity to make corrections on the picture being designed.

On completing the work, the painter can make his judgment on the whether the end product is the one he or she anticipated to make. Any deviations from what was expected are noted and explanations should be provided to help the artist avoid similar mistakes in his or her future works. These steps will guide the artist in making original abstract paintings of their likings.
