Sitting Through A California Chamber Orchestra Session

By Ronald Burns

Concerts excite so many people because they are an opportunity to meet the artists they love. They also get to gauge their level of skill and determine if they make use of certain technological enhancements to sound better. Those who want to try out a California Chamber Orchestra Session can use the information below as their guide.

Dress comfortably. Individuals are free to wear whatever they want when going to watch people perform. There are those who wear casual outfits which are composed of jeans and casual t-shirts. Other people dress up and are seen in tuxedos and nice gowns. In situations where a dressing code is necessary, the information is communicated to the audience so that everyone is aware of what is expected of them.

Have a meal before heading out to watch the orchestra. A regular concert runs for at least forty-five minutes to two hours. This is a long period for one to survive on an empty stomach. People are not allowed to eat as the performance goes on. People often opt to eat some snacks or a good meal that can keep them going until they get another chance to eat.

Be open to various possibilities. There are different genres that the professionals can play. They range from classic songs to contemporary ones by the most popular artists of the day. People should not assume that orchestras are boring because of the information they have heard from other people. It is possible to enjoy the time spent here even when listening to new music.

Do not have children in restricted sessions. Parents or guardians with children have to find someone to care for them while they are here. Most enjoyable pieces take such a long time, and it requires people to concentrate while here. It is impossible to do this with a nagging child who is hungry or tired of sitting in the same place for a long time. This distracts so many people, and that is why kids are not always allowed.

Avoid being late. Those who make it here once performances have started have to wait in the lobby or watch from uncomfortable positions. This is until there is a break and movement is permitted. Latecomers can cause trouble and are therefore not allowed to walk around when other people are sitting. Those who come in early can settle with ease and get to enjoy the sessions from the moment they begin.

Silence noisy electronics. There is nothing as distracting to the artists as a ringing mobile phone. Most people forget and come in with their gadgets at their highest volume. To prevent such noisy situations, they should either switch them off or ensure that they are silent. Recording of the activities taking place is not allowed.

Applaud at the right time. It is always awkward to start clapping when no one else is doing the same. The performers might have taken a slight pause in their piece making someone feel as if they are done. Applauding at a time when they intended to continue is noisy and interrupts the flow of activity. Clap when other people are clapping as well or when the musicians lower their instruments.
