How To Maintain And Clean Your Faux Sheepskin Rug

By Joyce Howard

Using sheepskin that is fake has gained popularity. There are lots of houses having these rugs. The good thing with this kind of rug is the fact that it can be used on beds, as runners, and on chairs. It is very hard for any person to resist the fluffy product. Nevertheless, in so far as the faux sheepskin rug is perfect, it is very tough to clean. When it does not get the right maintenance, it becomes dingy and begins tufting.

The only thing you can do to have a mat that will serve you for long without it getting ugly is to ensure that you clean it. This rug should be well maintained and often cleaned with the right cleaning materials. If you do not know of the best materials to use to clean the mat, then you will end up destroying the beautiful mat.

Before you commence your cleaning process, take the rug out and shake off most of the dust and other particles in it. If the carpet was used for the floor, then it is advisable that the shaking off be done outdoors. You do not want the dust particles settling on your furniture in the house. If the particles are many the other way of dealing with it is by beating it up.

After you have gotten the particle out, the next thing that you should do is to wash the product. Use cold water as you do this, the mistake that most people make is using bleaches and hard detergent. When it comes to the faux, you should use a mild product as possible since this is a sensitive rug that will react to chemicals.

To those people who use the machine to wash their clothes, you can also use it to clean your mat. Read the instructions on the material to ensure that you do the right thing. Before you place the rug in the washer, you should turn it inside out to prevent the tear and wear. Activate the washer after you have gently placed the rug in it and put on the right washing settings.

After the washing is over and one with, place the rug on a drying rack and let it stay there for almost a week. This is because the rug takes a while to dry completely. After it has been washed, it appears as matted wool spires. This should not be a cause for alarm as after drying the rug will regain its original fluffy nature.

If the runner is not dry at the end of the week, do not be in a hurry but let it dry on its own. After it has dried out completely, start brushing it. The brushing should be done is short strokes. A wire brush is best suited to perform this task well. The dog brush, on the other hand, is responsible for restoring the fluffy nature and breaking up the mat. With this procedure, there will be less shedding of the mat.

With all that done, you will be able to get the results which are pleasing. Many consider this as tiresome, but the results are worth the time.
