By Betty Cole

It is advisable to celebrate the birthday of your kid by throwing a huge party for them and allowing them to invite their friends to come over and celebrate the day together. One excellent idea is to have a pirate birthday party NJ. The city of Middletown, NJ has many stores where relevant supplies may be purchased to be used as decorations for the buccaneer theme. One may also go online and shop for whatever they need.

Make sure to get excellent buccaneer invitations that will set the tone for the event. The invitation cards should be designed to show the intended theme of the day. The language used on the cards should also be in tandem with that used by buccaneers. Printing of the cards may be done at local print shops. They could also be hand made using tea and fire to create their aesthetic old look.

The next thing to consider is the ideal pirate party decorations. It is important to choose more than one colors for the main theme. Colors may be orange, gold, red, blue, green or white. Include buccaneer flags, maps and other related decorations. Maps may be made to appear old by soaking them in tea or coffee and burning the edges. These maps may also be gotten at garage sales or made by local artists located within the city.

A pirate party will not be complete without including a treasure chest and hunt. The chest may either be bought from a garage sale or second shop. Put in some treasure and organize a hunt. This fun activity will engage the kids as they work together or compete in teams to seek out the prize. Create a sand box where children can play safely. Put in shovels, toys, pails and even a chest.

Come up with a theme for the type of costumes to be worn. Pirate clothes are easy to make at home. If this option is not available, they can still be bought at stores or shops that deal in second hand clothes and costumes. Ready-made costumes can be purchased online as well. Remember to get eye patches, bandanas, beards and adhesive moustaches.

Arrange for other fun activities for the kids to participate in including playing with home-made telescopes, pirate coloring pages, making bottle oceans, playing with flags and cannonball bops as well as other activities like hide and seek, sea battles, bottle messages and walk the plank.

No birthday is complete without a cake. There are many ideas on what type of cake to make for a buccaneer theme. Today, caterers and bakers are flexible enough to make any type of cake requested. Therefore, be it a ship, flag, cannonball or treasure chest any idea can be turned into a cake.
