Another thing is, you need to store your collections in a climate controlled environment. Be cautious in storing them directly to the sunlight, since it may affect the paper. Attics are not the best place to store your collectible items. Now, there are many kinds of storage containers available for you, such as the comic book boxes.

You may be able to purchase these boxes at any organization and collectible stores. Thus, in order to keep the quality of your comics, you have to properly store them, as it may also affect its preservations. First, it is necessary to wash your hands before handling the books. In fact, washing your hands with water and soap helps to remove all the oils in your hands, that may be possibly the cause of organisms which ruin your comics.

It is essential to organize your comic collections properly. So, storage box free from acidic components is important. You may also opt for smaller boxes and buy them at any archival and conservation supply stores. These may also be browsed through the internet and look for online shops. After that, better place them in the appropriate place.

Do not store them in the basemen, since flooding cannot be avoided and might ruin your comics. If you prefer to store them in the basement, then make sure that the boxes are placed above the ground level, so if flooding may occur, you can minimize the chance of getting it into the water. Moisture is another enemy to your collection, aside from the fire.

Thus, it is necessary to plan on storing your books and consider placing them into a plastic container. It is also essential if you would inspect them on a regular basis. Check the board colors or even mold and mildew. If you notice these issues, remove the books from the area. If you smell something around the books, then transfer them to another container.

Basically, comics are not insured and not part of your coverage. If you really value your collection, then you may talk with your insurance agent and ask for the appropriate insurance to get the coverage in case of emergency which may occur in the future. Keep in mind that comics are not actually for collection and investment. Beautiful craftsmanship can be found in the main storyline and form the artistic aspects of the comics.

Thus, treat them properly and store them wisely. However, you must also remember that they made to be read and enjoyed. Be sure that the box you purchase will suit the comics you have. Older ones may also vary in sizes and the box you purchase should fit properly in the container as well.

Once you know all these helpful tips, then it would be easier for you to value and store your things properly. You may then assure that your collection will be preserved for a long time. This could possibly last for a lifetime and next generations would still enjoy them.
