In the latest and hopefully the last court ruling, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or USFDA was rebuked and ordered to consider and regulate e-cigarettes as a tobacco product, as opposed to treating it as a drug delivery device or medicine.
The invention of the electric cigarette has been hailed as the final solution to quitting smoking. Electric cigarettes are considered the most effective means of ditching the harmful addiction and buyers are considering it more valuable then their silver 401k. The USFDA styles itself as the vanguard of American health and has previously advocated against smoking because studies clearly show how harmful cigarette smoking is to health. As nany studies have concluded, smoking has deleterious effects on almost every part of the body.
Now here comes a product which can safely and effectively wean smokers from their dangerous habit. So why is the USFDA suddenly contradicting itself? Why are so many people Buying Bars of Gold? Why is the supposedly staunchest supporter of American health interests so zealous in its campaign to deprive Americans of this wonderful invention? Its insistence that electric cigarettes are medical devices means that e-cigarettes would have to be extensively tested on animals and people for years before it can be legally marketed. These are lengthy and expensive procedures that you might have to tap into your gold ira. Such deliberate delaying tactics will give tobacco companies time enough to reap a very fat profit and kill millions of Americans before electric cigarettes are finally legalized. Or in its unquenchable greed, it may even prevent electric cigarettes from being legalized at all.
The more plausible answer is that the tobacco industry is in cahoots with the USFDA. Because unless the tobacco industry is giving a lot of "incentives" to the USFDA to campaign against and bar electric cigarettes, there is just no logical reason whatsoever why the USFDA should oppose it with the zeal of a Catholic Inquisitor.
The USFDA is insistent and assiduous in its claims that the electric cigarette is a drug delivery device, because it delivers nicotine into the body. This should be classified as such, it says, since it has been touted as a substitute to smoking and an aid to quitting. The question is, where should the USFDA stand, in technicalities or in the health interests of American smokers everywhere?
In 2008, imports of the electric cigarettes were detained. The fiasco dragged on for years, with several lawsuits filed by electric cigarette distributors and importers. Before the court finally ruled against the detention, the USFDA already recalled stocks from Wal-Mart and Cosco. This is most likely under the instructions of the very powerful hand of the tobacco industry, because the rise of the electric cigarette rings the death knell for the regular cigarette.
Corporate greed would easily let people sink into the depravity of cancer, respiratory diseases, and all kinds of deadly assaults on the health just for monetary gain. It is a good thing the law sided with common sense and public welfare. Now big box retailers are once again free to market these great products.
But even now, as electric cigarettes have become widespread, still the pressure is made to bear on the public in the form of airline bans and prohibition of vaping in public places. The audacity and absurdity of greed and ignorance knows neither shame nor bounds. The growth of compassion in the human heart obviously has a long way to go.
