By Mary Hayes

There are two main types of Art. One, a Visual art which encompasses real art work like a portrait or a drawing usually presented in art festivals and balls, exhibition centers and other platforms related to artwork. Two, art which involves performers who make use of their body parts or vocals to present. The latter form of art may include activities such as drama, singing, moving bodies to a rhythm and oral poetry. Many states pride themselves in backing artists and helping the realization of other cultural values through setting art schools and institutions everywhere within their boundaries. Below is an overview of Performing Arts Competitions in Michigan. There are widespread competitions held throughout the state by different schools and art centers

The primary and first activity of any competition is the funding. Every event has to be funded for it to commence. The government of the United States, through the state of Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, helps finance the contests in the state. Other independent bodies and organizations also chip in as sponsors.

The committee involved in the organization of the events then registers those participating in the competition. Both members and participants. They are usually according to the age that is the seniors and juniors. This step takes place in particular institutions like schools and art centers.it is usually an important measure since it facilitates identification of each group.

A schedule is then set, with dates and a fixed timetable for the events. Such is distributed widely through the platforms where members are found. The programs come with time lines and rules to adhere to that are set for every participant performing. The program takes into account all the stages up to the last one.

In an art competition, judges are usually entirely different people. They are subjective and circumstantial compared to clients and other subjects who make the audience. They are just not out of the blues but individuals who look at art work all day as part of their job. Hence has the expertise and skills to rule justly. They are usually two or more.

During the presentation of their items, the contenders do their best by displaying their creativity. They are then voted in for the next stages which are usually higher according to how well they perform. And since it is a competition there are the best and the poorest. The best attend the finals. Those who perform poorly are excluded.

There is also a ranking scheme that is used when it comes to deciding on the winners of the competitions. It is done in accordance to some factors like age and the type of arts being exhibited. For example, it is done uniquely when it comes to seniors and otherwise to juniors. They can also be categorized into dancers, circus entertainers and actors.

The final stage in a contest is usually awarding. Here is where the top or best performers are presented with various gifts as guaranteed when the competition was organized. There is usually a prize at the end to motivate the competing. Often, all the artists are awarded certificates of participation. Then the top ten or top three are awarded other prizes and further sponsorship.
