Faux furs are synthetic fiber materials in which the purpose of production is for resembling the original fur. Clothing is the most common use for these materials. But aside from clothing, these have been used already for many different purposes which became very popular because there is already an increase in the promotion of animal rights. Some animal welfare organizations have also been claiming that these are using animal friendly materials for clothing.

Cleaning the fake furs can be done in several ways such as by hand, by a washing machine, or by a dry cleaner. These methods will highly be dependent on the specifications being provided on the item. If you are unsure of what you have read, you may ask directly the manufacturer to avoid some damages into the material. Here are the different methods and steps provided for cleaning a faux fur bedspread.

Machine wash faux fur. Before you immediately wash the material, make sure to check its tag. Most of the items are being provided by the manufacturer with a tag wherein all the important specifications and instructions are written. Though it will depend on you whether you are going to follow those instructions or not, these will still include some important tips which you need to notice.

Some of the contents of the tag include whether the color fades out, if the procedures are the same as washing the colored items, and the instructions for washing. Standardized symbols are also written that would indicate how to care for that item. So therefore, the tags are so much useful to know what steps are to be done next.

Place your item in a washing machine. The fur must not be washed together with the other items. If part of the garment, it should be turned inside and out so that it will not be worn out or damaged. Check if the machine have the right settings. Using cold water is suggested and must set the machine to delicate wash cycle setting. Turn on your machine and add the mild laundry detergent.

See to it also that the machine is set to the least amount for spin agitation. When the rinse cycle has started, apply the fabric softener then rinse it with cold water. After its wash cycle, remove your bedspread and shaking it to help in removing any excess water. The water can be absorbed by rolling it into the thick towel. Carefully pull it and turn it to original dimensions and shape to avoid damage.

A faux fur which is hand washed. See to it that you are using the proper materials of hand washing. A lukewarm water or a cold water is either used for maintaining both the texture and the shape of furs. Make use of a mild laundry soap.

Another useful technique is spot cleaning. This technique can help the item to last longer and also maintain the original texture. Make use of mild detergent when cleaning the specific areas. When scrubbing, avoid on doing it too rough for avoiding some damage. Rinse with cold water and dry it.

Dry fake fur. Air drying is the best way to dry the item and not the electric dryer. Be sure to choose an area that is well ventilated. Placing it outside or adding a fan may be recommended to speed the process of drying.
