Art is one of the few things that make our world more round and beautiful. It opens up our eyes to see not only beauty but also truth. What makes it significant in the human life is still debatable for some people. But one remains certain for all of us, it is life. It came to us thousands of years ago. It is as old as time but as beautiful as the future.

Its beginning is untraceable but co existed with the earliest human civilization. Even if modernization is absent in the past, it did not stop the creativity of our ancestors. It has continued to flourish along with a number of innovations and new ways of thinking. One of the most magnificent forms that are born out of our limitless imagination is the figurative and genre art. It is a form that used real life references like usual scenarios and humans.

It has captured the human interest ever since the Greek Classical period but it was only recognized on the eighteenth century. It is the mark of opening the doors of real life objects as subjects. A chronological record of its history is absent but historians conclude that it was more explored on the nineteenth century. The depiction of reality rather than ideas caused a wide sensation worldwide. It is revolutionary in a way that it tries to shun traditional concepts.

It is often confused with other forms particularly in abstraction. That is because some of their characteristics overlap with each other. But what everyone must know is that the later was part of the development of figuration. What draws the line between is that figuration contains real life models while the abstraction does not.

Moreover, figuration deals with the surface level of a specific work while abstraction goes deeper to the point that work became unrecognizable. Both contained ideas that are worth thinking but how they are transported to its audience depends on the form. Such forms continue to motivate young artists of today to experiment and explore.

The American artist Andy Warhol is one of the main figures who utilized the form. He is one of the most controversial yet most talented artists on the roaring sixties. His mastery goes beyond one genre as his works cover a lot of them. He is well known for his striking subjects that include celebrities and hype events.

The painting which he entitled as The Weeping Woman is one of the best examples of the genre. It is made out of oil in canvas which he painted on nineteen thirty nine. It is one of his most intriguing works for it is where he started moving away from his usual war themes. His mistress served as the model of the work. What is mainly shown on the work is the suffering women across any culture.

His success did not end by painting cans. What made him as one of the best fine artist in the world is his contribution to the birth of the Pop Art. It is a movement that started from America and quickly spread on Britain in the nineteen fifties. It challenged what the old traditions of art by employing imagery that is usually kitschy and popular.

Art today functions in different from and value. It is safe to conclude that its creation goes beyond what is beauty. Its significance dwells on appreciation and function.
