You've Got To Do Much More Than Just Wear Irish Drinking Tshirts On St. Patrick's Day

By Nicholas Ames

Everyone who goes out on Saint Patrick's Day is expecting to have an amazing time out with friends, partying like crazy, and having an awesome story that you barely remember the next day. Well, it doesn't always work out that way. Most people go out in their great Irish shirts and have a whole lot of fun. The thing is, that they really don't have any better of a time than they would any other night that they go out. The difference lies in the details, you see.

Saint Patrick's Day is a great day to go out and have fun, and millions of people do so each year while wearing green Irish tee shirts. Most everyone wears the color green because we have learned from painful lessons that no green means pinching. Green is absolutely necessary in your wardrobe, but limiting yourself to just a color is doing yourself a serious disservice.

If you want to have a good time, then you just have to dress in your crazy Irish t shirts and go have beers like you always do. If you want to have an amazing time, though, you have to dress amazingly. I learned this a long time ago and I can personally attest that the more attention-grabbing you dress yourself means you're going to have a proportionately bigger and better time out.

I always make sure that I wear a different Irish pride t-shirt each year so that I'm bringing something new and funny to the table. I also like to paint my face in crazy combinations of colors, usually in shade of green. I actually own three different giant, Saint Patrick's Day-themed hats that stand out at least a foot over my head. Last year, I even rented a costume that made me into a massive caricature of a traditional leprechaun.

When you first walk into the bar, you will absolutely feel like the dumbest person alive. You just spent hours of your life preparing a costume just to party in on St. Patrick's Day and here you are the only person in sight who did anything like that. Take a deep breath and just wait. Mingle like you normally do and have some drinks while the crowd gathers and everyone starts loosening up. You'll start getting slaps on the back and drinks handed to you in now time. The next thing you know, you'll be dancing on the bar while dozens of people are chanting your name. And you just wanted to wear the same Irish drinking shirts you wore last year.
