Information About the Rugged Android Smartphones: Motorola DEFY+, Samsung Galaxy Xcover, and Sony Ericsson Xperia Active

More than we ever need our PC's or notebooks, Smartphones are becoming very important in our daily lives today. They will be the one to keep us connected to the people close to us wherever we go since they are with us. Generally, we are able to keep our phones good and well functioning for at most two years. But this will not happen if it can be damaged beyond repair because of little random accidents like spilling the cup of coffee all over them, dropping them by mistake, dropping them in sand at the beach. You cannot avoid this from happening. The worse which can happen is that we may lose our contact data and any other data like the multimedia. Thus, to avoid this from happening, it is best to have these phones built like tanks so that it will be protected against the environment and small accidents.

The first ever Android Smartphone released last year was built like this; the Motorola DEFY had a very good price aside from its tough construction. The price was around $300. For its features, it had 2 GB internal storage, 800 MHz OMAP 3610 chip (Cortex A8) with PowerVR SGX530 GPU, 3.7? display with an 854480 resolution, and 512 MB RAM.

There are three contenders in the rugged Smartphone space this year, namely, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Active, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover, and the sequel to DEFY, the Motorola DEFY+. Below are further descriptions of each of these phones.

Motorola DEFY+ and the original DEFY are actually a lot similar with each other. But the additional features are a 25% faster CPU, it comes with Android 2.3, and clocked at 1 GHz. Like Motorola, Samsung has been making rugged phones for a while, but so far they haven't made a rugged Android Smartphone, so this one is their first. Sony Ericsson is seeing the potential of these rugged Smartphones, too, and they want to enter this market.

Not putting into consideration the price, most love rugged android is Motorola DEFY+, for me and is the best among all three. It is because it has a good Cortex A8 CPU, with a large enough resolution (854480) that allows you to play most 3D games out there, and for its 3.7?, it's very compact. These are the features which I love the best. It is smaller in size as compared to those 3.2? phones out there. Motorola already has some of the best talk-time in phones thus if you care a lot about battery life in phones, this one is for you. It can have a huge battery at 1700 mAh.
