A Review of the LG Optimus One P500 Smartphone

While there are a variety of smartphones to choose from today as opposed to a few years ago, if you are on a budget, the LG Optimus One P500 with its variety of features may be the best choice for you. Because it is a "budget" smartphone, while it has many features, it won't have the same level of performance and the higher priced smartphones. If your goal is a good basic phone that allows you to access the web, then the LG Optimus One P500 might be the phone for you. Also, in case you're interested in cheap VOIP, be sure to check out VOIPo. Awesome company.

While offered at a lower price, the LG Optimus One P500 is still a well designed phone and the design is one that is sleek and modern. Although it costs less than many other phones, it doesn't have a cheap look to it. The rubberized coating of the shell makes it easy to grip and helps you avoid dropping it. The phone has a nice responsive touchscreen that it easy to operate. You shouldn't have any trouble locating the buttons on this phone, even if you're not an experienced smartphone user. The LG Optimus One P500 has the look of a higher priced model because of its lightweight and good design.

Because they are easier to use and made for typing, the smartphones keypads are much better than the basic cell phone. The keypad on the LG Optimus One P500 gives you a choice between the typical mobile phone setup or QWERTY, the setup you have on a computer keyboard or old fashioned typewriter.

This will be advantageous if you plan to send a lot of text messages or write notes to yourself on your smartphone. On the other hand, the keypad on this phone isn't the most comfortable one to use, as the buttons are fairly small. While better than typing on the typical "dumb phone", the LG Optimus One keyboard isn't as user friendly as ones on the more expensive smartphones.

While a reliable phone, the sound quality is not always as good as it could be on the LG Optimus One P500. Part of this does depend on the network that you are using. But it is a fact that the sound quality on budget phone is not as good as one that costs more, so this is one of the trade offs you make. Usually the calls will be clear enough and won't cause problems, however occasionally there will be distortion in the background and people will know that you are using a cell phone instead of a land line. The volume on the speaker phone may be difficult to control although the speaker phone works well. You should find the LG Optimus One P500 will meet your needs if you don't have the expectation that it will perform like a phone that costs twice or three times as much. It's a phone that gives you all the basic communication capabilities and also allows you to browse the web, take pictures and play some games. The LG Optimus One P500 is a wise choice for someone looking for a reasonably priced smartphone. Last but not least, if you ever need something besides cell phone service, VoIP is a great option.
